Thank you to the enthusiastic audiences who came to our events last year. We are delighted to announce our 2025 events.
From Friday 23 May to Sunday 25 May we will again be streaming from the 2025 Sydney Writers’ Festival (SWF). This year we will stream eight diverse sessions over three days. As always these thought-provoking sessions will provide an opportunity for like-minded lovers of books, writing and reading to meet up and chat!
Later in the year on Saturday 19 July we invite readers to the 2025 Maleny Big Book Club with our special guest Kate Evans (ABC RN, The Bookshelf) as we explore what it means for contemporary writers to re-tell the classics.

2025 Sydney Writers Festival
The Sydney Writers’ Festival brings a dynamic lineup of literary talent to Maleny, streaming live from 23–25 May 2025. This immersive event features 8 sessions over three days, showcasing celebrated authors discussing their work, literary journeys, and insights on contemporary issues. Held at the Maleny Community Centre, it’s a unique opportunity for book lovers to engage with the world’s leading writers in an intimate setting. Don’t miss out on this cultural celebration!
2025 Maleny Big Book Club
The Maleny Big Book Club returns on 19 July 2025 with a special session exploring how contemporary writers reimagine classic tales. This year’s focus is on James by Percival Everett, a retelling of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn told from the perspective of the slave Jim. Join us for a deep dive into this multi-award-winning novel, guided by special guest Kate Evans. Whether you’ve read the original or not, it’s a thought-provoking discussion you won’t want to miss.
